Easy Homemade Bagels

If you've seen some of my old morning routine vlogs, you know I LOVE bagels.  So, I wanted to share a super easy recipe you can make at home.  Below I have an instructional video for you, as well as a list of ingredients and directions to help follow along. These are so good!! Let me know in the comments if you try this. XOXO

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup additional water

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, yeast, and 1/3 cup of warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
  2. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt and gently stir it in.
  3. Add 3 1/2 cups of flour. Mix until dough forms.
  4. Kneed for about 10 minutes, then let dough rest for either 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and let it rest for 10 more minutes.
  6. Shape bagels by rolling dough into 8 balls, then poke a hole through the middle and place on a sheet tray.
  7. Let bagels rest for another 10 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 425°F
  9. Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the bagels 1-2 minutes per side. (The longer cooked, the chewier the bagel.)
  10. Bake for 20 minutes, or until they are a golden brown. Let cool and enjoy!
